Disability Law
  • Benen Fahy did a number of workshops with social workers in the Brothers of Charity on the subject of advocates for people with disability and various issues relating to the rights of persons with disabilities. He gave a number of talks on making a Will for persons with disabilities. In 2011 he was asked by Ability West to do a serious of talks on making a Will taking into account the needs of a child with a disability and he gave such talks in Tuam, Mountbellew, Portumna and Galway.
  • In May 2006 he gave a talk in the Menlo Park Hotel for the Down Syndrome Association on the subject of making a Will for the family of a child with special needs and also presented a paper on the Anti Discrimination Provisions of the Equal Status Act 2000. In November 2011 and February 2016 he repeated this talk on Wills for the Down Syndrome Association. He has also given talks to members of Rehab Care, The William Syndrome Association and other support groups on the subject of making provision for children with disabilities.
  • He has been involved in the setting up of the Disability Law Clinic which is run by the Centre for Disability Law in NUIG and provides support for them. This was launched on 14th October 2011 by the Attorney General.
